Composting, Irrigation and Rainwater

Compost happens. Add in microirrigation and rainwater harvesting, and you have a triple workshop to help your garden to flourish. Local University of Florida Extension agents can show you how during the Compost Happens, Microirrigation, and Rainwater Harvesting workshops, and with resources available at the Extension office, 5339 County Road 579, in Seffner.

Compost Happens will demonstrate how to turn your trash into treasure that your flower beds will love.

Microirrigation will teach you how to have healthy and attractive landscape beds while conserving water. This irrigation method not only conserves water, but is not limited by current water restrictions, unlike typical in-ground irrigation systems.

Rainwater Harvesting is useful for collecting rainwater for ornamental plant irrigation while reducing erosion, stormwater runoff, and the use of potable water for irrigation.

Hillsborough County residents who register and attend the triple workshop will receive a composting bin, a microirrication kit, and a 55 gallon plastic barrel, limited to one per household.

Triple workshops will be held in October and November. Get more information and register, or call (813) 744-5519.
